COLLINGDALE — An SUV slammed took down a power line, then slammed into a building early Friday morning, police said.
The incident occurred on the 900 block of Clifton Avenue about 1:30 a.m.
The female driver was trapped inside the SUV amid the rubble, but was extricated. The building houses several apartments. One man was home at the time, but was not injured. Another family was not home at the time, officials said.
The SUV left a gaping hole in the building and a pile of bricks on the sidewalk.
Clifton Avenue is shut down between MacDade Boulevard and Spruce Street.
The cause of the accident is not yet known. The incident remains under investigation.
