Taxin was strongest in the first two periods, as his defense killed all seven penalties that the Tigers received, facing 24 of his 30 shots.
Greg Johnson put MN on the board with 9:45 remaining in period one (assists Rob D'Urbano, Jim Stanton) as he undressed a Lion defender on his way to the goal.
There was no scoring in period 2 but the Tiger effort was consistent as the O'Hara netminder stopped plenty of Tiger chances.
With 10:27 left in the game, Jim Stanton's point drive was deflected by Phil Stephens to up the lead to 2-0 (other assist Gary Myers). With a 2-0 lead, the ice seemed tilted in the Tigers' favor as they stayed out of the penalty box and fired 15 more shots at the Lions before Tom Wienckowski finished off the scoring with a high wrist shot into the upper corner (assists Johnson, D'Urbano).
The Tigers are off until Jan. 8 at the Skatium, at 9:45 p.m., versus Haverford High.
