UPPER DARBY — A Tuesday afternoon accident involving an Upper Darby School District bus left a handful of students injured, officials said.
The accident occurred at State and Stanbridge roads in Drexel Hill at around 3:35 p.m. with bus #26 coming from Drexel Hill Middle School. The bus and a car, reportedly driven by a young person, collided at some point. Emergency and school district personnel responded to the scene.
According to district spokeswoman Aaronda Beauford, there were five students on board, plus the driver. Acting Police Superintendent Timothy Bernhardt Tuesday evening said two students, the bus driver and the driver of the car were sent to Delaware County Memorial Hospital for minor injuries. Three other students were released to their families at the scene.
Bernhardt did not describe what caused the accident as it is still under investigation.
