CHESTER >> Police are investigating the fatal shooting of a 25-year-old city man, marking the city’s 12th homicide for the year.

City officers were dispatched to the area of Seventh and Lloyd streets on Wednesday shortly before 9:30 p.m., for a report of shots fired. An anonymous caller reported hearing as many as six shots in the area.

Arriving officers were told by bystanders in the 600 block of Lloyd Street that the shots were fired west of that location. Meanwhile, officers continued to search the area.

As officers turned onto the 1000 block of James Street, according to city Police Capt. James Chubb, they found a man lying the in the middle of the street, suffering from what appeared to be numerous gunshots.

The victim, identified as 25-year-old Kassim Brown, was pronounced dead at the scene by Crozer-Chester Medical Center paramedics.
