SHARON HILL — A threat posted online Wednesday night targeting Academy Park High School has landed a suspect in custody.
Sharon Hill Police reported on their Facebook page Thursday morning that an investigation was launched after a suspicious social media post and that a person was under arrest.
Sharon Hill Police Chief Richard Herron could not be reached for comment Thursday to discuss the nature of the social media post and who was arrested.
Southeast Delco Superintendent Stephen Butz did not clarify if it was a district student who made the threat when he was reach for comment Thursday. Butz did say that the district was notified of a threat by community members and the state's Safe2Say program and that the person who allegedly wrote the threat was quickly identified and interviewed by police.
Butz said the high school opened on time and had a regular session Thursday. Additional Sharon Hill police officers were placed in the school as a precaution.
"We greatly appreciate the work of the Sharon Hill Police Department and other law enforcement agencies who investigated this threat," said Butz.
