This was the scene on Edgmont Avenue in Brookhaven after the pedestrian was struck on Tuesday morning.

BROOKHAVEN — A 67-year-old man is in critical condition after being struck by a vehicle Tuesday while crossing Edgmont Avenue on foot at Cambridge Road, according to a release from Police Chief Matthew Kurten.

The collision occurred about 9:59 a.m. and disrupted traffic on the busy roadway for about two and a half hours as fire crews directed vehicles around the scene. The victim was transported to Crozer-Chester Medical Center for treatment, where he remained in critical condition as of Wednesday afternoon, according to the release.

The driver of the striking vehicle remained on-scene and was interviewed by police, as were several witnesses, Kurten said. No charges have been filed and the investigation is ongoing. Further details are expected to emerge as the investigation continues.
