UPPER DARBY — An early morning fire chased residents from there homes in a township apartment complex Thursday, officials said.
No injuries were reported.
Fire crews were called to a fire in the Elizabeth Manor apartment complex on the 7100 block of West Chester Pike, just a block from the 69th Street Transportation Center, just before 5:30 a.m.
Fire was contained for the most part to an upper unit on the fourth floor.
Police officers and fire crews entered the building and went door to door to get residents out. One apartment unit where the fire is believed to have started suffered heavy damage.
Responding fire crews were met with heavy flames and smoke coming from the upper unit, with reports of some residents being trapped.
Dozens of residents were chased from their homes. They were let back in after the fire was extinguished.
Damage was confined for the most part to one unit, with some minor smoke damage in adjoining units on the upper level.
