The Rose Tree Media School Board opened its March 26 meeting by highlighting the achievements of several Penncrest High School winter athletes and teams.
Wrester Joe Pyfer was a qualifier for the state championship tournament. The team is coached by Greg Jacobs, Will Harmon and Sean Graham.
The boys’ varsity basketball team qualified for the PIAA state tournament. The players include Jimmy Carpenter, Nolan Carroll, Michael Doyle, Ryan Granger, Drew Hanna, Chandler Henry, Matt Hunger, Nick Ladd, Mike Mallon, John Nichols, Shaun Norwood, Tyler Norwood, Manny Ruffin, Justin Ross and AJ Taylor. The team is coached by Michael Doyle, Tim Brown, Leo Doyle, Quahsim Gredic, Sean Tait, Andrew Radomicki and Sean Spratt.
Members of the girls’ indoor track team were honored for their state medal and qualifying performances. The 4 X 200 relay team of Katie Arbogast, Brianna Artis, Alicia Collier and Zoe Gabel were bronze medalists; Collier was a sixth-place medalist in the 200 and Arbogast in the 400; the 4 x 400 relay of Arbogast, Artis, Collier and Megan Kitchin earned a seventh-place medal and Mariah Kozub qualified for the 55-meter hurdles. The team is coached by John Lohn and Mike Clark.
The board voted unanimously to approve:
*the installation of a reproduction of Pablo Picasso’s Self Portrait with Palette on the front lawn of Media Elementary School. The display will be part of the Philadelphia Museum of Art’s Inside/Out installation to promote the arts throughout the borough.
*a 5-cent increase for breakfast and lunch meals in accordance with the U.S. Department of Agriculture National School Lunch Program paid lunch equity requirements.
*the agreement with Barbacane, Thornton & Co. for auditing services for the 2014/2015 school year. The amount of the agreement is $30,100.
