The Rose Tree School District administration has three new faces, as the school board voted unanimously, June 26, to make appointments in as many buildings. All will begin in their posts July 1.
Christine Seeley, a Response to Instruction and Intervention (RtII) teacher at Media Elementary School, will serve as acting principal of Indian Lane Elementary School. She will replace Bill Bennett, who is on leave. A member of the district since 2009, Seeley received a Bachelor’s Degree from West Chester University and Master’s from the University of Scranton. Her salary will be $116,466.
Dr. Paula Voshell will take the reins at Media Elementary School, replacing the retiring Maria Kotch. A graduate of Widener University who earned her Master’s from West Chester University and Doctorate from Neumann University, she has served since 2012 as an elementary principal in the Centennial School District, Warminster. Voshell’s salary will be $128,726.
Donald DiPaulo, Jr., a teacher in the Radnor School District since 2001, will be the new Assistant Principal of Springton Lake Middle School. He earned his Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees from West Chester University and will replace Anthony Jackowski, who resigned last month. DiPaulo’s salary will be $110,348.
The board acknowledged the retirements of Joann Wade, special education teacher, Glenwood Elementary School (18 years) and Ronald Shortall, custodian, Rose Tree Elementary School (six years). Both ended their service at the close of the school year.
In addition to the principals, the directors moved by the same margin to hire Elizabeth Hartert as a teacher at Rose Tree Elementary School ($54,191); Lora Hirshberg, AGP teacher, Glenwood and Media (to replace Anthony Grisillo, $53,968); Mackenzie Omlor, teacher, Glenwood (new position, $54,637); John Phillips, long-term substitute English teacher, Penncrest High School (to replace Michelle Kirk, $46,091); and Stephanie Varacchi, head field hockey coach for the 2014-2015 school year, PHS ($5,655).
