MEDIA>> The 53rd Annual Delaware County Halloween Parade is set for 2 p.m. Sat., Oct. 28, in downtown Media. Bands, mascots, floats, marching units, scouts, antique cars, homecoming queens, clowns, cheerleaders and other imaginative groups, as well as countless costumed individuals and families, will line up on State Street and parade through the streets in the center of Media to celebrate the fall season. The parade will be about one hour long.

The parade this year will be hosted by Crozer Keystone Health System and Meridian Bank of Media. The parade is coordinated by Town Talk Newspapers and the Delco News Network.

On parade day, participating group leaders should check in with the parade officials at the intersection of State and Edgmont Sts., Media, no later than 1:15 p.m. Groups will be told where to stand until it is their time to march. No registration is necessary for individual marchers.

The parade will form at the school field, starting promptly at 2 p.m., and proceed west on State Street. This free community event bans politics and hidden agendas. It’s all about family fun and allowing everyone to either entertain or be entertained throughout the parade route. For safety reasons, participants are asked not to throw candy at the staging area.

This year’s grand marshals will be members of the Penncrest High School Envirothon Team who recently brought home a national championship. To date, the Penncrest High School Envirothon Team has won four national championships and 13 state championships.

The parade’s rain date will be the following day, 2 p.m., Sunday, October 29.
