Flames shoot from the roof of a home on Vineyard Lane in Middletown Wednesday afternoon. 

MIDDLETOWN — For the second straight day, fire roared through a Delaware County home, chasing residents and leaving the house a charred mess.

Firefighters were called to Vineyard Lane in Middletown just after 4 p.m. Wednesday. When crews arrived, flames were shooting through the roof of the home.

Initial reports indicate one person was home at the time, but managed to escape the fire.

No serious injuries were reported.

Dozens of firefighters from as many as 10 companies converged on the scene to battle the inferno, which quickly spread and were shooting through the roof. 

Middletown Fire Co. was assisted by Media, Chester Heights, Brookhaven, Concordville, Aston, Edgemont, Newtown Square and Lower Chichester, along with Riddle Hospital Medics, Woodlyn Canteen, PECO for live wires, and 1st and 11th District Fire Police for traffic control. 

Cause of the fire remains under investigation.
