A man wanted in a string of retail thefts from numerous jurisdictions throughout Delaware County surrendered to police Wednesday.

Authorities identified the suspect as Ryan J. Weems-Johnson Sr., 40, of Linwood, after he turned himself in to Lower Chichester Police Sgt. Larry Moore.

According to police, Lower Chichester was one of several communities he was wanted in for a string of retail thefts over the past few months. Lower Chichester wanted him for an alleged retail theft at a Family Dollar store.

Newtown was another municipality where he was wanted in for an alleged retail theft of deodorant, shampoo and other bath projects at a Rite Aid on West Chester Pike Aug. 8.

After he turned himself in, police in Lower Chichester contacted police in Newtown.

“He was transported out to the prison. There will be a detainer placed on him and additional charges are pending,” Newtown Police Detective William Moor said.

Among the other stories and products Johnson is suspected of stealing are sneakers at the Modell’s Sporting Goods at the Promenade Granite Run and for three separate alleged retail thefts at the Kohl’s Department Store on Baltimore Pike in Morton.

Police said was also wanted in Brookhaven for retail theft at another drug store there. In that theft, police said he took Nicorette products, according to police.
