Teikoku in Newtown Square has long been a favorite lunch and dinner destination to experience the striking flavors of Thailand mixed with the influence of Japanese cuisine. Now visitors can sample their favorite fare during the restaurant’s new Sunday brunch buffet. From 11 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., guests can choose Asian dishes as well as traditional American breakfast entrées.

During a recent visit to Teikoku, my husband Kevin and I walked past the wall of rain chains that collect falling water as it passes through hanging copper cups that drip into a stone garden. This was going to be a tranquil and peaceful dining experience; definitely different from other brunch buffets.

After ordering a mimosa, our waitress Nina graciously explained all the types of fare. I was impressed by the wide array of Asian cuisine including the chicken and salmon teriyaki, sautéed shrimp and chicken Pad Thai. At $25 per person for adults and $12 for children under 10, the cost is comparable with many nearby brunch buffets.

It can never be too early for sushi, so I selected several types of sushi rolls including salmon and tuna. Adding some dumplings, vegetable fried rice, salmon teriyaki and jumbo shrimp to my plate and I was ready for brunch. My husband Kevin decided to try breakfast favorites like the French Toast, sausage, bacon, yogurt and fresh fruit and the make-your-own omelet station.

The food was delicious and we both went back for seconds; sushi rolls for me and French Toast for Kevin. The delicate sushi rolls were fresh and creative and the salmon teriyaki was tangy and sweet.

General Manager Katrin Kanikkeberg hopes to regularly add new dishes to the buffet. Even though we were full, she reminded us to try the dessert table selections which included mouth-watering mini cheesecakes and Petite Fours.

With scrumptious cuisine, lovely décor, reasonable prices and welcoming staff, Teikoku’s Sunday brunch buffet is a must.
