The Lansdowne Folk Club will present an evening with singer-songwriter John Gorka Thursday, Jan. 24, at the Twentieth Century Club, 84 S. Lansdowne Ave., Lansdowne.
Gorka illuminates with his trademark wordplay, twisting, turning and tying words and phrases. For over two decades, Gorka’s keen ear has picked up the stories of those along his path, folding them into poetry and song.
Gorka flies below the pop culture radar with an almost cult-like following. His versatility on guitar and piano keeps his sets musically interesting, while his rich baritone effortlessly executes his bidding. And he’s never short of the sly comment or clever joke that invariably ignites his audience.
Doors will open at 7 p.m., and the show will begin at 7:30 p.m.
Tickets are $25 when purchased in advance online or with an advanced phone reservation and $30 without an advance reservation. Cash only accepted at the door.
Parking is available on the street and at the SEPTA train station approximately one block away.
