EDGMONT — Arasapha Farm, known nationally for its top-rated Bates Motel and Haunted Hayride, doesn’t stop offering seasonal fun and adventure when the Halloween season comes to a close. Instead, Arasapha Farm transforms into a full-blown winter wonderland.
This heartwarming local attraction includes a delightful ride on a sound-equipped tractor-pulled hay wagon, through the rolling hills of Arasapha Farm, which are filled with festive light displays, seasonal decorations, animated sets, decorated trees and buildings, bridges and brooks. The hayrides, which leave about every five minutes, last about 20 minutes, and are choreographed with all the favorite songs of the season. After the hay ride, visitors to the farm can relax by Arasapha’s bonfire or warm up with a cup of cocoa. There’s also hotdogs, funnel cakes, popcorn and other treats to enjoy. The holiday hayride is designed to be a holiday joy for all ages.
No trip to Holiday Hayride is complete without a visit to Santa, where photos can be taken. Visitors can also check out the all-new Santa’s workshop and train set. New for this year is a magical train ride through beautiful holiday displays that’s a treat for both children and adults. As an added bonus, people can get an up-close look at the reason for the season - Arasapha’s famous Live Nativity scene that features real animals.
After experiencing the Holiday Hayride, visiting with Santa and relaxing by the bonfire, visitors to the farm can cut their own tree, choosing from hundreds of Douglas Fir, Norway spruce and Blue spruce trees. Families can start a lasting tradition and cut their own tree with the kids.
Visitors to the farm who don’t have the desire to cut their own can choose from a huge selection of freshly cut Christmas trees that will last through the holiday season. Varieties include Douglas Fir, Frazier Fir, Grand Fir, Noble Fir and Norway spruce. Prices vary according to size and species. A variety of wreaths and roping is also available
The Holiday Hayride is open 5:30-8:30 p.m. Dec. 6, 7, 8 and Dec. 13-23. Tree sales take place now through Dec. 24, on weekdays, noon to 9 p.m., and on Saturday and Sunday, 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Delivery and set-up are available.
Echo Hill Farm
With its back acreage in Delaware County, and the front of the farm in Chester County, Echo Hill Farm is a newcomer to holiday agritainment. The North Pole Experience at Echo Hill Farm is open with free admission on Saturdays and Sundays, now through Sunday, Dec 22 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas at the Barn Shop, which features handcrafted one-of-a-kind treasures, artwork by Italian artists Brigida Di Genova and Antonio Palumbo, wreaths by Keep it Greenery and over a hundred miniature classic collector cars and memorabilia that will surely entertain and intrigue visitors of all ages.
Featured artist DiGenova, trained by old masters of Italy, has a variety of price ranges and makes all her own paints from plants, herbs and natural resources.
“Brigida DiGenova’s work is meticulous and whimsical, transporting us to another world, from reality to dream,” said Echo Hill Farm owner Barbara Ann Zippi-Och. “Her love for the Christmas season is evident in her wonderfully hand-crafted Santa Claus collection.”
For the younger set, holiday crafts will be available for tots to tweens and children’s book author, Phyllis "Pam" Mariani will host story times. Mariani’s book, “Baby Makes a Family,” focuses on adoption. Her other book, “Dingles Special Day,” is about pet rescuing. The full color, hardback books, perfect for seasonal gift-giving, are illustrated by W.F. Hawkinson, one of Walt Disney’s original illustrators.
Echo Hill Farm’s historic barn, with sections dated 1750 and 1882, will serve as a backdrop for unique Santa Photo packages by Charismatic Entertainment. Photos will be taken between 12 noon and 2 p.m. on weekends.
Upcoming special events include Storytime Breakfast with Santa, Saturdays through Dec. 21, and Historic Save the Barn Tours and S’mores from Dec. 26 to Jan. 6.
Other North Pole Experience attractions include Echo Hill Farm’s version of National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation Griswold Station Wagon, and a nine foot Nutcracker and other Christmas décor, once on display at Granite Run Mall. S’mores and more will be available to purchase as holiday treats, along with the presence of a food truck with Nonna Sonia’s Italian Hot Roast Pork Sandwiches.

MIDDLETOWN — Visitors to Linvilla Orchards, 137 Knowlton Road, can get into the holiday spirit every Saturday until Christmas Eve on the farm’s Wassailing Caroling Hayrides. What better way to spread Christmas cheer than singing loud for all to hear? The community is invited to celebrate the ancient tradition of Wassailing and sing Christmas Carols around the campfire, while enjoying a sample of Linvilla's famous apple cider. The Wassailing Caroling Hayrides leave 5 p.m. Saturday evenings, Dec. 7, 14, and 21. Cost is $8 per person.
Santa Claus is coming to town every Saturday and Sunday at Linvilla, from 1-3 p.m. Children are invited to bring their Christmas list to tell Santa what they’re wishing for and have their picture taken with him and his jolly elves. Linvilla offers children’s crafts, from 1-3 p.m. every Saturday and Sunday.
While visiting Christmas Around the Farm, people are invited to search for the perfect Christmas tree from over 40,000 Douglas and Canaan firs. The Christmas tree operation is open 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturdays and Sundays and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday. Cut it yourself or select one of the many pre-cut trees, from now until Dec. 23.
Before leaving Linvilla Orhards, visitors can visit the Christmas Shop and Garden Center for holiday essentials including wreaths, holiday decorations, Christmas gifts, children's crafts and more. Linvilla offers poinsettias in red, white, pink and salmon, as well as a vast selection of amaryllises, holly, ivy, Christmas roses, Christmas cacti, Christmas bells, and mistletoe for that festive touch.
The Farm Market and Bakery features baked goods, including Linvilla’s signature pies, and all kinds of other holiday favorites, from savory hors d'oeuvres to free-range turkeys.
