State Rep. Margo Davidson debunks rumors about running for lieutenant governor

State Rep. Margo Davidson (D- 164) Thursday night debunked rumors that she will make a run for lieutenant governor in the 2014 state election.

The representative made the announcement during a fundraiser at Casey’s Restaurant in Drexel Hill, confirming she will keep representing the 164th district.

“As much as people are talking to me about running for lieutenant governor, I’m really focused on my state house seat,” Davidson said. “I’m here to serve the people of Upper Darby, East Lansdowne and Millbourne, and Southeast Pennsylvania for as long as I can.”

An advocate of small business and economic development, Davidson is pushing to get a candidate in office that will focus on these issues, attempting to block Gov. Tom Corbett from a second term.

“I want to do all I can to change the guard, regardless of what role I’m in or what office I’m in,” said Davidson. “We want to make sure that we have the right people in place.”

Davidson added that although she has no immediate plans to run for another office in state government, “(The idea is) a long way off.”
